Sound System starts with a local band. Online play comes later
Sound System is waiting for Steam approval after its planned November 4 Early Access launch. The announced first phase puts up to three players on one PC; native online multiplayer comes later.
Sound System's planned November 4 Steam Early Access launch is waiting on platform approval. In a November 4 update, the developer said it did not know how long the delay would last. The announced launch scope remains single-player and local multiplayer for up to three, with guitar, bass and drums; native online multiplayer is planned for full release.

Build the first session around one PC
The October 1 announcement describes co-op or head-to-head play for up to three people on one PC. The newer October 30 checklist repeats local multiplayer for one to three players, alongside single-player. That is the clearest basis for arranging a launch session: bring the players to the same machine.
This distinction changes the invitation you send. A local trio can plan around the announced mode. Three friends expecting separate installed copies to join an online lobby are waiting for a different feature. The game's multiplayer label alone does not answer that question.

Remote Play Together is a separate route
Steam lists Remote Play Together among Sound System's features. That listing should not be confused with the developer delivering native online multiplayer ahead of its roadmap. Valve describes Remote Play Together as a way to share supported local multiplayer games over the internet, with the host running the game.
It may therefore be a route worth checking for a remote session, but Gamer-Z has not tested Sound System through streaming. Do not read the badge as a guarantee about rhythm timing, instrument-controller passthrough or your particular connection. For a music game, those are practical questions to settle before promising friends an evening that depends on it.

A launch checklist, not a finished roadmap
The October 30 announcement lists four difficulties, 33 songs and the PulseMap note editor for Early Access launch. Its named instrument parts are guitar, bass and drums. This report follows that newer checklist rather than combining every feature mentioned across older promotional pages.
The team estimates roughly six months in Early Access and puts online multiplayer for up to three players at full release. Treat that as a development plan, not a fixed launch date. Buy into the currently documented local experience only if that is enough for you; waiting is reasonable if a native online band is the deciding feature.
Check your setup before buying hardware
The storefront advertises keyboard, gamepad and instrument-controller support, but that broad description is not a tested compatibility list for every old peripheral and adapter. Confirm your exact device before spending money to rebuild a band setup.
For now, the useful answer is narrower and more concrete: Sound System's announced first phase supports a band around one PC, but its release is waiting on Steam approval. Check the storefront and the developer's latest announcement before arranging a session, and keep future online plans separate from the launch scope. No performance, latency or controller testing is claimed here.
