ESCAPE ACADEMY / CLASS OF TWO
Escape Academy 2 lets two players solve the whole campus together
The November 5 sequel takes co-op beyond the escape rooms. You can explore between classes with a partner and leave the countdown off.
You can bring a partner to more than the escape rooms in Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School. Coin Crew Games says that when the sequel launches on November 5, couch and online co-op will cover the campus, the story and its puzzles from the start. Two people can share a screen, and an optional No-Timer Mode lets them puzzle without racing the clock.

The space between classes is part of the puzzle
In the first Escape Academy, the Headmaster’s Office was the setting for the opening escape. For the sequel, art director Michelle Huttunen says the team went back to that room to work out how the larger school should look. The new campus is a place to investigate in its own right: there are characters to meet, quests to follow and even keyhole motifs tucked into the surroundings. Finding a clue need not start when a door shuts behind you.
That matters if you buy co-op games for a regular partner. In Coin Crew’s description of the campaign, neither player has to sit out the walk between puzzles. And the story welcomes newcomers. One player knowing the original is not a prerequisite for the other to join in.
One sofa or two homes?
For a pair sharing a PS5, the US PlayStation Store lists one to two players and split-screen couch play. For two people connecting online on PS5, it lists support for up to two with PlayStation Plus. Solo play is also an option. Steam lists both online and shared or split-screen co-op for the PC release.
If you own different systems, check the specific pairing before buying two copies. The Xbox listing names Xbox cross-platform co-op, but does not identify every compatible store or console. In particular, it does not settle whether a Steam player can join a PS5 player.

Keep the puzzle, lose the countdown
A shared screen need not mean a shared rush. The publisher lists an optional No-Timer Mode, which makes room for a pair that likes to talk through a clue before trying an answer. It is a choice about pace; it is not a claim that the game solves the puzzle for you.
If you want to see whether solving together suits your evening, start with the separate Steam demo. If you already know you want the campaign, the useful decision is simpler: pick where you will play together first, then decide whether you want a clock in the room.
