Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is scheduled for November 3 on Steam. Atari and Pipeworks are adding online multiplayer alongside local play, plus a system that lets players choose the order in which they unlock monsters, locations and gallery items.
The city is still part of the fight
The returning arena game pits kaiju against one another with melee attacks, energy blasts and Rage Mode strikes. Buildings can become weapons, so the scenery is part of combat rather than just a backdrop. Atari describes twelve monsters and eight locations, including Monster Island and the alien Mothership.
That is the premise returning from the 2002 game. The useful launch question is which parts change the way you arrange a match or pursue a favourite monster.
Online does not answer every group-play question

Atari names Versus and Melee modes and advertises new online multiplayer. Steam separately lists Online PvP, Shared/Split Screen PvP and Remote Play Together. These labels describe different ways to connect; Remote Play Together should not be mistaken for evidence that every console can join a PC lobby.
The checked product descriptions do not settle cross-platform play or the exact player cap for each online mode. If your group is split across systems, wait for explicit platform documentation before buying on the assumption you can all play together.

Pick what you unlock next
The revised progression system allows monsters, locations and gallery items to be unlocked in a chosen order. That matters if your reason to return is a specific kaiju or arena: the advertised change gives you a choice of target instead of only describing prettier versions of the same rewards.
It does not say everything is unlocked immediately. The store also lists additional single-player campaigns for each kaiju, but it does not establish how quickly any particular reward can be earned. We have not tested progression.
A release date, not a network verdict
As checked November 2, Steam still marks the game unavailable and gives November 3 as its planned release date. Its relative countdown is not a fixed global unlock-time announcement. This is listed as a standard release, with no Early Access designation on the checked page.
Use the official trailer to see the advertised combat, then check the live store and launch documentation for your intended platform. Matchmaking reliability, input response and cross-platform compatibility need evidence beyond promotional footage. The remaster's concrete promise is new access to matches and more choice in progression; its execution remains to be tested.
