A bigger library total is a distraction if the game you want every evening is missing. Pick three games you would actually start this month. For each one, record the store, exact edition and whether you own it or borrow access through a subscription.
Find the local route. Is there a supported version for this device? A Steam listing is not Deck verification; an Xbox console listing is not a Windows entitlement.
Read the exception. Launcher prompts, anti-cheat, required controllers and online-only features can change your decision. “Not checked” belongs in your unresolved column.
Check your real setting. For travel, verify offline startup and sign-in requirements. At home, a streaming route may avoid a hardware purchase, but first confirm the host, service and network requirements.
If your most important game has no verified route, keep the money. Check the game’s official support information or choose a different device path before buying. Compatibility documentation still does not establish frame rate, battery life, comfort or accessibility fit.

For an at-home plan, check whether your existing PC or console offers a workable remote-play route before buying another machine. For travel, favour a verified local install route and confirm its offline behavior. Neither a Wi-Fi logo nor a downloaded game settles that question.
