Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game gives one character-voting pass to preorder customers and one to Deluxe Edition buyers or upgraders. A Deluxe preorder gets two. The ballot chooses the fifth fighter in the Year 1 Pass; it is separate from the Avatar State update's reworked Avatar Aang and Nightmare Korra. Check your purchase history before paying for a perk you may already hold.
Count passes by purchase, not by patch
Paramount's 4.0 notes distinguish a preorder, a Deluxe purchase or upgrade, and a Deluxe preorder. They do not list a post-launch Standard Edition purchase as a qualifying route. Updating the game alone is therefore not the documented way to obtain a ballot.
For example, a Standard preorder owner already has a qualifying purchase. Someone who bought Standard after release should check the Deluxe upgrade's contents before deciding whether those extras are worthwhile. Neither example is a reason to buy the full game a second time.

Rank five candidates for one roster slot
The announced candidates are Tenzin, Kuvira, Amon, King Bumi and Asami Sato. Paramount describes the ballot as an ordering of the characters you want, rather than simply choosing a single name. Xbox Wire says players with two votes may submit a different ranking or repeat the first.
That distinction matters if your first choice is fixed but your second and third choices are close. Decide the order you actually prefer before submitting. These are candidates for one slot, not five promised additions or a timetable for their release.

The pass and the patch answer different questions
The Steam edition description names Iroh, Ty Lee, Lin Beifong and Bolin alongside the vote winner as the Year 1 Pass lineup. It also lists a digital soundtrack, artbook and exclusive HUD styles among Deluxe extras. The purchase decision is about that package, not just one ballot.
By contrast, the October 28 Steam update announcement describes reworked Avatar State Aang and Nightmare Korra, refreshed presentation, training changes and additional modes. It is easy to see the two returning fighters in promotional art and mistake them for the vote's prize. They belong to the update story; the fifth pass character is a future roster decision.
Check the in-game ballot before setting a deadline
Xbox Wire directs eligible players to the voting option on the main menu and says voting runs for one month. Its October 30 article does not specify an exact closing timestamp. That is not enough evidence to convert the window into a guaranteed November 30 deadline.
Open the current ballot and read any displayed terms before planning around the last day. If the expected entitlement is missing, keep the purchase receipt and seek official support rather than assuming another purchase will fix it. We have not tested voting, redemption or cross-platform entitlement.
