Our take
Series X is the version of the current Xbox that does not ask you to give anything up: it has the disc drive, the full GPU, and the storage headroom that the all-digital sibling trades away for price. If you buy pre-owned discs, borrow games, or resell them, the drive alone changes the total cost of ownership enough to justify the gap.
The reason to think twice is that Microsoft's software strategy has made the console the least differentiated part of the platform — the same library streams and installs on cheaper hardware. Buy Series X for local 4K performance and physical media, not because it is the only way in.
