The opinion
The Elite Series 2 is the same control layout as the standard Xbox pad with three things added: swappable thumbsticks and paddles, adjustable stick tension, and an internal rechargeable battery with a charging dock. If you play one competitive game seriously, the tension adjustment is the feature that actually changes outcomes, because it lets you tune stick resistance to your aim style rather than adapting to a fixed spring.
It costs roughly three times the standard pad, and the honest answer for most buyers is that two standard controllers are the better purchase. Buy the Elite if you play a single genre often enough that stick feel matters, or if you want a controller with no batteries to manage.
