In practice 16GB still holds up for pure gaming, but the moment you have a browser with thirty tabs, a voice client, and a capture tool running alongside a recent large-world game, you start hitting the ceiling and it shows up as stutter rather than a lower average framerate. That is the part benchmarks hide, because a benchmark run has nothing else open. If you are streaming as well, 32GB is the easier decision. The other consideration is that RAM is one of the cheapest upgrades to do later, so buying two sticks rather than four leaves the door open.

Sample answer. Adding to that — kit speed and running in dual channel matter more than raw capacity if you are on the current AMD platform, so do not buy 32GB of slow single-stick memory to hit the number.
